Fridue date

Type !, !!, !!! or v at the start of a task, or add (due 10/15) to the end.

To repeat a task, add (every week), (every 2 weeks on Tue) or (every month), or pick a repeat in the calendar. Ticking it off moves it to its next date and keeps a copy in the Logbook.

On a computer

Enter: Save the task and start a new one below (in the middle of the text, it splits the task)
Shift+Enter: Line break inside a task
Tab: Nest as a sub-task or sub-section
Shift+Tab: Back out a sub-task or sub-section
Backspace: At the very start of a task, join it onto the task above
Esc: Cancel the edit, close a menu, or leave search
/: Search (then Enter / Shift+Enter for next / previous match)
Ctrl/Cmd+B or I: Bold and italic for the selected text
Ctrl/Cmd+Z: Undo (add Shift to redo)
Right-click: A menu for a task's priority and 🐸 states, to snooze it until a later day, and to promote it to a subsection (in the Full List) or jump to where it lives (in the other views); on a section title, to demote it to a task
📝 button: While editing a section title, add a note under it (click a note to edit it)
@tag: Type a word like @phone in a task to tag it; click the tag to see every open task with it, from all your lists
Day ring ✦ (top left): Finishing tasks earns Light ✦: 10 for a task, more for a priority, much more for a 🐸 frog (50, or 70 before noon), ×1.5 in Today’s Plan, plus bonuses for clearing a section or the plan and for quick runs. The day ring at the top left fills toward the day’s goal; close it day after day for a streak (its number shows under the ring). Click or tap the ring for today’s Light, all your Light ever and what each task earned. Un-ticking a task takes its Light back.
Ring by the title: Click it to see the list's done and open tasks by priority (a section's own ring, at the right of its title, does the same for that section)

View button ▾: Shows the view you're in. Pick a view: Full List, Top Priorities (the !!!, !! and ! tasks, plus open tasks due by tomorrow), What's Due (by due date), Waiting On (longest waiting first), Logbook (finished tasks, most recent first) or Snoozed (tasks put away until a later day)

On a phone

Swipe right →: Complete a task (swipe a completed one to bring it back)
← Swipe left: Delete a task (Undo is offered at the bottom). On Today’s Plan it only takes the task out of the plan
Hold and drag: Hold a task or a section title still for a moment until it lifts, then drag it to reorder (drag a task sideways to make it a sub-task, or back). In What's Due, drag a task to another day; on Today’s Plan, reorder it or drag it in or out

Ring List keeps all your to-do lists in one place. Each list is split into sections, and its tasks can carry a priority, a due date and a status. Each section keeps its most important tasks at the top, so what matters most is always the first thing you see.

Tags: Below the rings: every @tag your open tasks have, with how many. Tap one to see those tasks from all your lists.
Sample list: New here? Open it and work through Start here, top to bottom: it shows the basics one step at a time. Delete it when you’re done; Add the sample list at the bottom of this page brings a fresh one back.
Import a list: At the bottom of this page: makes a new list from a Markdown (.md) file, such as a list you downloaded. Pick several files to bring in several lists.

Hold a ring, let go: A menu to leave that list out of All Lists, or delete it (moving instead of letting go drags the ring)
Today’s Plan: The first ring: your plan for today, picked from any list. Add tasks from its Top 10 and the unfinished ones from your last plan (+, or drag them in), or with “Add to Today’s Plan” in any task’s menu (a ☀️ then shows beside it: tap it to go to the plan); − takes one out. The + at the top adds a task just for today, kept with the plan rather than in a list; one you don’t finish waits under Left over until you add it to a plan again, move it to a list (“Move to a list…” in its menu) or delete it (✕; on a phone, swipe it to the left). Drag ⠿ (on a phone, hold a task, then drag) to put them in order: the top one is next up (marked in yellow). Tap Ready when the plan is set (“Let’s get started!”). When the last task in the plan is done, it celebrates. A new plan starts each day at 3 a.m.; the first time you open the app on a day with nothing planned, a note offers to plan it (Settings › Daily plan reminder).
All Lists: With two or more lists, the first ring shows them together: Top Priorities, What's Due and the other views, across all your lists. Everything works there as in a list (each change is saved in the task's own list), except adding tasks. A task's right-click menu (on a phone, the 🐸 menu while editing it) says which list it's in and can jump there. To leave a list out, right-click its ring (on a phone, hold it and let go).

Every day you close the day ring, that day’s ring goes into the Vault (on the Light page): a calendar of your rings, each drawn in the colors of that day’s lists. Milestones (a first frog, streaks, a clean slate and more) earn rare rings, kept on the Vault’s shelf.

Reading a ring

Your lists

Everything saves as you go, and shows up on your other devices as it happens. If a list is changed on two devices at the same moment, the first change is kept and the other device tells you.
Your lists are private to you, even if someone else shared Ring List with you.
Each list is plain text underneath (Markdown), so you can download it and read it anywhere.
The gear button has settings for light or dark, text size, sounds and vibration, and Sign out.
When a new version of Ring List comes out while it’s open, a note says so: tap Reload to get it.
